I'm sure everyone knows and concurs that the hardest part of an essay to write is an introduction. You just sit there for a while, not really knowing where to begin. I suppose it's a similar story with a lot of scenarios really - the first day at a new school, your first foray into foreign lands, and so on. You're just not... completely sure of yourself. I feel the same way about this blog, in that I don't really know where to begin with this first post. Though, I'm fairly sure I'll get into the flow and swing of things soon enough.
So basically, this is just an introductory post so I can actually get off the mark and have an article on the screen, and go from there. Don't expect anything too deep in this entry; it probably won't be more than a general recap of recent times.
But yeah, okay. I kinda lied. It's not REALLY my first ever blog post; I had one many years back, but I got bored with it and it turned to shit. I'll try not to let that happen this time, but no promises unfortunately. Then again, not to sound overly blunt but this blog is primarily intended to be a source of outlet for me, not a source of entertainment for you. I'm simply putting it all out here in the public domain for all to see, for some silly reason. Oh how kind I am!
So this is me. You all know who I am. Well, you should anyway. If you don't, I don't know why you're reading this. Unless you want to be someone I know, who claims she has been able to grasp solid understandings of random peoples' lives merely by extracting what they compose on these silly websites. If you want to be one of those people, be my guest - enjoy the ride, but please don't put your feet on the seats. I fucking hate that.
Many a naive one would be quick to suggest that 2008 has been a year to forget for Nikola Levanic. However, I must beg to differ here. Obviously, heaps of shit went down this year. I returned from a trip to Thailand as a freshly single boy coming out of a rollercoaster 8 month relationship, which ended via an MSN conversation linking Sydney with a seedy internet cafe on the corner of Sukhimvit Road lined with royal propaganda. The climax of this relationship also took away two of my best friends whom we still share a mutual disdain to this day. Then of course, a number of little mini-dramas with certain pretentious and petty people sandwiching, as eine freundin so eloquently put it, 'ze incident.' Stack all that on top of the usual family dramas and those kids suddenly seem to have a pretty good case to present.
That all aside though, some awesome things have happened. I've met some cool dudes in my first year at uni, especially through rugby which was fucking awesome. It's motivated me to bulk up for 2009 and really be a part of the team. Also, I've got a couple of new awesome close friends, who are more than a good trade for those two dickheads I lost at the start of the year. Things are starting to turn out pretty well I think. I'm going to Thailand again at the end of the year (we have free accommodation there this time, so it was pretty hard to turn down) and I still have my 2009-10 world trip on my mind. Now I just want October 30 to come and go, so I can enjoy the summer break. Systems go!
Now onto more recent times. So I never thought I'd see myself working in a donut shop, but here I am at Dreamy Donuts Eastgardens. I've actually enjoyed it so far. The manager/owner is an awesome guy, and I get along with him well. Another interesting thing to note is that I'm the only male out of about 8 casuals, so as the token guy they all seem to like me quite a lot lol. There's 2 types of duties at the place - backhouse, which involves putting the donuts through the oven/proofer/glazer and putting topping on them, and fronthouse - serving customers and making coffee, and cleaning. It's actually decent pay, especially on weekends - I'm averaging about $18 an hour across the week which is pretty sweet.
I've been a bit sick lately - but I guess it's been going around. Thank god for Codral, how good is the stuff? I've gone from a deathly fever to a mere sore throat in two days. Good times. I hope I'm 100% and raring to go for Oktoberfest tomorrow night, it's going to be a loose night. Been fired up about it for a while and can't wait.
Happy to get this first entry out of the way. Look forward to more entertaining and compelling reading from now on. :)
PS. I like plain layouts, but jeez this is plain even for my liking. I'll get around to changing this layout soon enough.
